Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

Lynn was last seen in Sublette County, Wyoming on June 28, 1963. She and her twin brother were visiting their grandparents, who had a dude ranch in the Green River Lakes area. They had grown up in the area but had moved to Utah with their mother. June 28th, a Friday, was like any other day at the GP Bar ranch until about 6:30 that evening when folks started noticing that Dianne was gone. They looked all around but could not find her. Lynn's brother last saw her in the evening hours, walking over a footbridge at the end of one of the lakes.

Additional Details:

Sublette County Sheriff Morris C. Horton responded and organized a search. Sheriff Horton mobilized a wide-ranging search party. An array of men on horseback and on foot, sometimes up to 60 a day, scoured the countryside, up Big Sheep and down Little Sheep mountains. Airplanes criss-crossed the area. Packs of bloodhounds tried to sniff up a trail. The dogs started yelping up Mill Creek once, but nothing was found. People in boats searched the lake shore. Other boats floated down the Green River, looking for sign. An extensive search of the area and the lake turned up no sign of Lynn, but on July 29 her clothing was found stacked and folded on a rock about 200 yards from the lakeshore, in an area that had previously been searched. Included with the clothes was part of a letter Lynn had written her boyfriend back in Utah. The authorities searched the lake a second time but found nothing.
