Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

Renee and Rachel were friends and Julie is the little sister of Renee's boyfriend who lived on the same street as Renee's grandparents. Rachel left her home at 3712 Minot Street in Fort Worth, Texas where she lived with her husband Thomas "Tommy" Trlica and sister Debra Arnold Hopper and traveled to 3505 Gordon Avenue Fort Worth, Texas to pick up Renee at her grandparents' house. Rachel and Renee had a quick last minute shopping trip planned so that Renee could get some pants out of layaway at the Army Navy Store and then they were to go to Seminary South Shopping Center (Now known as La Gran Plaza). It was unplanned for 9-year-old Julie Moseley to go with them on this day. Julie learned the two older girls were going shopping and called her mother at work and begged to go with them. Reluctantly, Julie's mother said yes. Renee had received a promise ring from her boyfriend Terry Moseley that morning. She was excited about her ring and her plan was to be home by 4:00pm so that she could start getting ready for a Christmas party that evening. The trio never returned home. The Oldsmobile Rachel was driving was located in the Sears parking lot of La Gran Plaza sometime after 6:00pm the evening of December 23, 1974. On December 24,1974 a letter arrived at the Trlica's home. The letter stated that the girls had gone to Houston, Texas and would return in about a week. The letter gave directions to locate the Oldsmobile which was located in the Sears parking lot. The envelope was addressed to Thomas A Trlica (Rachel's husband) and in the top left corner of the envelope was written "Rachel". The bottom of the letter was signed Love Rachel. It originally said Love Rachee and the author of the letter wrote over the last E to make it an L.

Additional Details:

Rachel's husband Tommy had previously been engaged to her sister Debra Arnold Hopper. Debra had broken up with her boyfriend and was temporarily living with Rachel and Tommy. Wendy Carlson - Expert Document Examiner examined the letter postmarked December 24, 1974, and has stated that she will testify as to her conclusion being that Thomas A Trlica did author the envelop and the letter.
