Summary:
On February 11, 1977 Gayle had left her work to run errands for her employer. When she did not return her husband was contacted, who later phoned police to report her missing. Her car was found in the Dillons parking lot 734 E 4th St Hutchinson, KS. Doors unlocked. Her keys were in the ignition Gayle & her purse were missing. Several days later Gayle’s body was found in SE Hutchinson along the Arkansas river she had been sexually assaulted & her throat slashed.

Before going missing a witness recalls seeing Gayle sitting in her car in the drivers seat speaking with an unknown male 26-28 years of age, 5’8”- 6’ tall, brown shaggy collar length or longer hair, wearing a red stocking cap, a mustache & goatee, glasses with brown lenses (possibly sunglasses). The witness stated they were laughing so they thought they knew one another,
Additional Details:
An FBI profiler had been called in to assist with the case. Graffiti was found at a nearby Cessna plant that said “I Killed Gayle” with other items. Also a person had called into a local radio station KWBW & had a 3 hour conversation about Gayle Sorensen’s murder. That caller also claimed to be an employee at Cessna.
