Summary:
Cayce D. Kyles was a well-liked, 68-year-old, retired Elgin resident who had worked at Burgess-Norton Manufacturing for many years before retiring. Post-retirement, Cayce continued to work part-time for the Elgin Department of Grounds and Buildings and attended St. Paul’s Baptist Church. Cayce Kyles was stabbed and killed as he walked down an alleyway behind the Douglas Hotel a block away from the Elgin Police Department by an unknown assailant leaving behind a large family.
