Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Offense:
Tammy was last seen in Daytona Beach, Florida on June 8th 1979. She lived in an apartment located at 541 Park Drive with her mother, Diane Hollins. A neighbor saw the two walking along International Speedway Boulevard at some point between 2:00 pm and 3:00 am that afternoon. Tammy never attended school after that and Diane failed to make it to work. It was initially believed the two had left to visit relatives until June 11th but no luggage or possessions were missing from the apartment to indicate this. Diane also left behind money in the bank. Police suspect both mother and daughter met with foul play.
Additional Details:
On December 6th 1986, a partial human skull along with some clothing was found in the woods near County Road 60 in Screven County, Georgia. The remains were initially believed to be those of a woman aged between 20 and 40 years old. However, in 1992 a forensic anthropologist determined the remains belonged to a teenage girl aged between 12 and 17 years old. DNA testing identified the remains as belonging to Tammy Hollins in 2013, over thirty years after her disappearance. Diane Hollins remains missing. Police believe Diane’s ex-boyfriend, Benjamin Ponder was involved in the case. He was born in Screven County where Tammy’s remains were later discovered and had various relatives living there. He denied being responsible for the disappearances until his death in 2009. Sadly, Tammy’s murder and Diane’s disappearance remain unsolved as of 2025.
