On Wednesday, March 12, 1981, Fort Worth Police officers responded to a welfare check request at 1829 S. Jennings Ave, relating to 65-year-old George Vernon Shelby. The officers discovered Mr. Shelby lying face up on his bed, deceased, with a cord around his neck. The cause of death was confirmed as strangulation following an autopsy. The last known contact Mr. Shelby had was with his girlfriend around 1 pm on Sunday.
