Tracy was last seen in Garden Grove, California on August 11th 1981. She left her home on Westminster Avenue and Euclid Street, Tracy was last seen talking with friends in a local park. She failed to return home by the following day so her mother filed a missing persons report. However, police suspected Stratton was a runaway and police didn’t suspect foul play was involved.
Additional Details:
On August 19th 1981, San Bernardino area police received an anonymous call that led them to the skeletal remains of a teenage girl. The skeleton was located 85 feet down a steep hillside off California 38 in Running Springs near Big Bear. The victim had been dead for at least a week and was strangled to death. A month later, the remains were identified as belonging to Tracy Stratton. Police now believe she was abducted and murdered within two days of her disappearance. Her murder remains unsolved.
