Wyteria Jones, a resident at the Douglas Hotel in downtown Elgin, was last seen on or about October 1, 1982. When the Douglas Hotel closed, she reportedly left with her luggage to take a bus to Aurora with her final destination reported to be the Joliet Motor Lodge in Joliet, Illinois. She never arrived and her whereabouts remain unknown.

Wyteria Jones had received treatment at the Elgin Mental Health Center in 1982 and was living at an extended stay hotel. She was living apart from her then-husband and when the hotel closed, she reportedly left to go to Joliet. She was not reported missing until January of 1983 by her then-husband.
