Mamie Ware mysteriously disappeared after leaving her home in Detroit, Michigan during the winter of 1982. Ten days later, her body was discovered in a vacant house not far from her own residence. She had been murdered but no suspects were identified or arrested. Sadly, her murder remains unsolved.

Mamie was last seen in Detroit, Michigan on December 18th 1982. She left her residence located in the 14000 block of Anglin Street to go see a movie after her mother gave her some money for babysitting. Mamie never returned home that night and was reported missing the next day. Police initially believed she had runaway as she allegedly had a history of doing so. A relative told investigators they saw Mamie after she was reported missing but they were unaware of her being considered missing.
Additional Details:
On December 29th 1982, Mamie’s brother and a friend were rummaging through a vacant house located at 13489 Dequindre Street when they made a horrific discovery. In the debris filled basement, they found the body of a young girl. Police quickly identified the body as being Mamie Ware and determined she was the victim of a homicide. She had been strangled to death and was killed two to three days before the discovery. Police believe Mamie was killed inside the house which was located eight blocks away from her house. No suspects were identified or arrested in Mamie’s murder. Sadly, her case remains unresolved.
