Margaret disappeared from Boulder, Colorado on September 24th 1983. She was last seen at 11:30 pm at a party in a barn at Heil Ranch, located northwest of Boulder in Lefthand Canyon. Hillman was supposed to get a ride home with three cousins but this never happened. Margaret’s cousins searched for her at the party until they left at 1:30 am. Her parents reported her missing the 9:00 am after they realized she failed to return home the previous night. An extensive search of the 6,000 acre property revealed no trace of her.
Additional Details:
On July 17th 1984, forest workers looking for an access road to an area scheduled to timber sale in the Left Hand Canyon discovered the skeletal remains of a teenage girl. Clothing matching the description of those worn by Margaret Hillman were found buried nearby. Dental records positively identified the remains as being those of Margaret Hillman. An autopsy determined she had been killed by blunt force trauma to her skull. Two men were identified as suspects but they were never charged with her murder.
