Circumstances of Offense:
On Saturday, November 16, 1985, sometime after 2:00 p.m., Leann Faulk disappeared from Hyattsville, Maryland. She went to see her boyfriend's aunt and uncle to obtain some money. She was accompanied by an unknown man who was later identified as an African-American male known by the name 'JJ' or 'Jay Jay.' Faulk was believed to have last been seen in Oxon Hill, Maryland, leaving her boyfriend's parents' house. When she did not return home, her apartment was found to contain all of her personal belongings, including her purse, with no evidence of forced entry. Homicide took over the case on November 28, 1985.
Additional Details:
Despite the homicide investigation, no conclusive evidence was found, and Faulk's body has never been located. Family members believe she may have witnessed a crime, possibly a stabbing, which could have been the motive for her disappearance. In 2020, her sister Toni Brooke initiated efforts to raise awareness of the case, working with the Maryland Missing Persons Network. The family has conducted searches in Oxon Hill areas, particularly in Betty Blume Park near National Harbor, suspecting it may be the location where Faulk's remains were disposed. A $5,000 reward was offered for information leading to the recovery of her remains. Her case remains a cold case with the Prince George's County Police Department.
