Summary:
Roman Sanchez is wanted for the homicide of Armando Cortez.
Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Offense:
Armando and his friends were at a backyard party when Roman showed up. Roman was described as “short in stature but big on attitude”. Roman asked Armando where he was from (determining what gang he belonged to). Armando and his friends were all law-abiding people who had nothing to do with gangs. Armando said he didn’t want any trouble and Roman pulled out a gun in response. Armando and his friends left the party and headed back to their cars. It should be noted that Roman was a tagger who may have been trying to impress an older gang member. Roman and his associate followed Armando and his friends. Roman proceeded to allegedly shoot and wound Armando’s friend in the neck who was trying to deescalate the situation. Armando then proceeded to shield his friend and Roman and his associate allegedly shot Armando and another of his friends, killing Armando. Roman remains at large nearly 20 years later and has ties to Arizona and Mexico. Despite publicity on television and in newspapers, there has been few leads on Roman’s whereabouts. As of this posting, Roman’s murder case in Los Angeles County’s court records database has no disposition and no updates in the case proceedings, events or custody status since the warrant was issued for Roman’s arrest. This unfortunately confirms that he is still a fugitive. It is also not clear if Roman’s accomplice has ever been identified and charged.
Additional Details:
Anyone with information on Roman’s whereabouts should contact Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit an anonymous tip on their website. Roman should be considered very dangerous. Please consider sharing this so that Armando’s family can get justice and answers in their loved one’s case.
