Linda Rose Grimm disappeared from Perris, California on March 31, 1986, after leaving her home to purchase cigarettes. She periodically called her mother over the next 18 months, claiming to be in Wichita, Kansas with a truck driver named Robert Masters, sounding fearful and refusing to disclose her location. Grimm was last seen in Perris, California on March 31, 1986. Her mother stated that Grimm departed from her residence to purchase a pack of cigarettes and never returned. She phoned her mother periodically during the following 18 months. She claimed that she was in Wichita, Kansas and was doing well. Grimm refused to divulge her address and her mother said that her daughter sounded afraid during the conversations.

According to family members, Linda left her home in Perris, California in March of 1986, because of marital problems and was last heard from by telephone in October of 1987. Grimm called her mother for the final time during October 1987 from an unknown location. She has never been heard from again. She maybe with a truck driver named Robert Masters and living in Wichita, Kansas. Grimm may have resided in Wichita with Robert Masters, who was employed as a truck driver at the time. It is also believed that Linda had friends in Huntington Beach, California, and that she was with them at some point after her disappearance. Linda's car, a yellow Ford Pinto, was found in a supermarket parking lot on Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach in April 1989. California and Texas authorities are handling Grimm's investigation. Foul play is suspected in her case.
