Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance:
Marie Louise Andrus was 37 years old and living in Davis, California, in August 1987. On Thursday, August 20, 1987, following an argument, she left Davis in a distraught state, driving her own car. NamUs records that she was contemplating suicide at the time. Her family never heard from her again. On Saturday, September 5, 1987, a California Fish and Game officer found her vehicle parked and unoccupied on a forest road in the Beaver Creek area of the Klamath National Forest, in the Klamath River country of northern Siskiyou County. Using the license plate, the officer contacted her family in Davis, who then reported her missing to the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office. Investigators learned that local law enforcement officers who hunt the Beaver Creek area had noticed the vehicle parked, unoccupied, at that spot as early as August 20, the day she left Davis. The owner of a market in the Klamath River area also recalled Marie coming into the store in late August 1987 and asking about local campgrounds. Several searches of the Beaver Creek area were carried out, but no indication of her whereabouts was ever found. She was believed to have been wearing a tan jacket or sweater and blue jeans, with small yellow earrings set with a white stone. She has a chip in an upper front tooth. The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office considers Marie Andrus missing under suspicious circumstances. Her case remains open and unsolved; dental records are on file with the California Department of Justice.
