Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Offense:

Brandy Dawn Hutchins had a very unstable homelife and because of this, had a lot of behavior issues. In spite of the problems she had, she was a sensitive, caring, and funny child who desperately wanted to be loved and fit in. In September of 1988, she met a boy at the county fair that was 2 years older than her. She was immediately smitten and developed a huge crush on the boy. He had a younger sister, and Brandy would use this as an excuse to spend a lot of time at their house. About 2 weeks before Brandy was murdered, she began telling friends she was pregnant, and she was planning on telling her boyfriend the weekend after her birthday. Brandy told her dad that some friends were giving her a birthday party in an abandoned house close to where her boyfriend lived. Although her dad was very reluctant to do so, he took her to the abandoned house on Thursday evening, November 10, 1988, and dropped her off. No one was there, however, Brandy assured him that her friends would show up soon. That was the last time he saw her. Two days later, on November 12, 1988, hunters found Brandy's body underneath the abandoned house where her dad dropped her off. Police found Brandy's purse nearby and inside there was a positive pregnancy test, however, the autopsy showed that Brandy was not, nor had she ever been, pregnant.

Additional Details:

Brandy's boyfriend is a suspect in at least 4 other murders in other states but has never been arrested for any of them.
