Melony Merrille Sutton, 14, and her brother Chad Everett Sutton, 16, were last seen on November 23, 1992, when they departed for school from their home in Inala, Brisbane, Queensland, intending to hitchhike to Perth to find their father. They are still classified as missing.

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

On November 23, 1992, at 8:35 am, Melony Merrille Sutton aged 14 years and her brother Chad Everett Sutton, aged 16 years, were last seen at 7 Jabiru Street, Inala, Queensland, by their mother Maree when they left home to walk to school. After leaving home, Chad and Melony dropped off their younger brother George at school and left. The siblings did not attend school that day and they have not been seen since. It was later learnt they intended to hitchhike to Perth. However, they didn't have any money or clothing with them.

Additional Details:

In April 1993, a friend claimed Chad called him several times between November and December from Sydney and Adelaide, but police were unable verify the calls through phone records or find anyone who had picked the teenagers up. Missing Persons Unit Detective Senior Sergeant Damien Powell confirmed Ivan Milat was among a number of killers who could be responsible for the pair's deaths. It is believed they passed via the Belanglo State Forest. Police have long suspected the siblings were murdered. Grandmother Jean Turich said Chad and Melony's mother had died without learning the fate of her children. But she said her daughter never gave up hope that they'd turn up alive.
