Summary:
Juan Ramon Zuniga is wanted for the attempted homicide of a 16-year-old girl.
Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Offense:
Authorities say that Juan left a party with the girl and her boyfriend. They drove to a field where the boyfriend got out of the car. That is when the girl resisted Juan’s romantic advances while laughing. Juan then allegedly shot the girl in the head. The three then drove to Juan’s home where Juan fled. Juan’s brother raced across the street to a neighbours home to use their phone and report the shooting. The girl was rushed to a hospital where she remained on life support. She remained near death for several months, but recovered while requiring physical and emotional therapy. Juan initially fled to the Los Angeles area where he had relatives. Considering how long he has remained a fugitive, I believe he has most likely now fled the United States. As of this posting, Juan’s attempted murder case in Santa Barbara County’s court records database is in warrant status with no filings since 1993. This unfortunately confirms that Juan is still a wanted fugitive.
Additional Details:
Anyone with information on Juan’s whereabouts should submit an anonymous tip to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office at https://www.sbsheriff.org/home/anonymous-tip/ . Juan should be considered extremely dangerous. Please consider sharing this so that there can be justice and answers in this horrible case.
