Summary:
On February 17, 1993, 24-year-old Tracy Michelle Samuels disappeared after dropping her children off and saying she had a job interview. She was last seen getting into a white GMC or Chevrolet flatbed truck at the Cherry Hill Apartments in West Tulsa. She has never been heard from again.
Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance:
On February 17, 1993, during the morning hours, Tracy Samuels dropped her son off at her parents' residence in Jenks, Oklahoma and told her mother that she was going to a job interview. She left her children in the care of their grandparents at 11:00 a.m. the day of her disappearance and said she had a job interview but didn't say what kind of job it was for or where the interview would take place. Samuels was last seen leaving her pickup truck and getting into another vehicle, a GMC or Chevrolet flatbed pickup truck, outside her apartment at the Cherry Hill apartment complex in the 700 block of west 49th Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 17, 1993, appearing reluctant to get into the vehicle, which was driven by an unidentified White male with brown hair and a mustache, wearing a baseball cap. When Tracy parked in the lot she parked perpendicular to the spaces, taking up multiple spots before getting into the man's car. At 10:30 p.m. the day after her disappearance, her dark blue 1988 GMC extended cab pickup truck was found at an apartment complex in the 4800 block of south Jackson Avenue. When Tracy failed to pick up her daughter Kristina from school that afternoon, alarm bells rang, as it was uncharacteristic of her to be late, especially with her daughter's eighth birthday just two days away, and Kristina waited at school until nearly 5:30 PM before realizing something was terribly wrong.
Additional Details:
Samuels was apparently carrying a large sum of cash at the time of her disappearance, and she and her husband were involved with cocaine in 1993. Her parents describe her as a responsible mother who wouldn't have abandoned her son and daughter. As of today's date, no one has been cleared as a suspect, and the male she supposedly got into the vehicle with has never been identified. Her husband was cleared as a suspect. Because Tracy Samuels is Native American, the Bureau of Indian Affairs has taken over the case, and new leads have been developed but they still need leads. You can email a tip at OJS_MMU@bia.gov or call 1-833-560-2065. Foul play is suspected in her case, and both Glenpool and Tulsa police are investigating. There were 4 different reports of people seeing her in the Tulsa area within two weeks of her disappearance, though there weren't cameras everywhere back then. Her great grandmother got random calls for about six months after Tracy disappeared, but whoever was on the other end of the phone wouldn't say anything; she always thought it was Tracy.
