Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Offense:

Bulic Forsythe was last seen leaving his office at Lambeth Council on the evening of Wednesday 24 February 1993. On Thursday 25 February, Mr Forsythe failed to turn up for work. In the early hours of Friday, witnesses reported hearing shouts and footsteps running away from the block of flats where he lived. Soon afterwards, a fire was discovered spreading through his flat and his battered body was found in the bedroom. His murder resulted in an appeal for more information on Crimewatch UK in June the same year, using an artist's impressions of two men seen with him. In the 1993 Crimewatch appeal, it was revealed that three official-looking men were seen by a neighbour carrying files away from Mr Forsythe's flat on the Thursday before his death. In the early hours of Friday 26th February an alarm was raised when witnesses reported hearing shouting and the sound of running footsteps in the block where Bulic lived. Upon making enquiries officers from the Metropolitan Police discovered a fire which was rapidly spreading through Bulic's apartment. When the fire brigade broke in to deal with the fire they discovered the body of Bulic Forsythe with his skull smashed in.

Additional Details:

42-year-old Bulic Forsythe was a department manager for the housing section of Lambeth Council in London, England. A large part of Mr Forsythe's work involved in the mangement of premises used & operated by the Social Services department to provide care facilities for children & vulnerable people. Bulic lived alone in an apartment in Clapham, South London and was soon to become a parent with his new wife, Dawn who was at the time still living abroad. He told one of his friends that he had just completed a lengthy report that had taken him some six weeks to compile. Mr Forsythe's daughter, Kiddist, who was born three months after his murder says that there are documents in the form of faxes which indicate that Bulic was about to blow the whistle on something very serious at his work. Theories surrounding his death focused on a suspicion he may have been about to blow the whistle on an alleged paedophile ring operating on council premises. It was the subject of a recent review by the Metropolitan Police Service (Operation Redsnow), as a result of concerns that there was a connection between Mr Forsythe's employment at Lambeth Council and his murder, but no evidence of such a connection was found. The Metropolitan Police ran Operation Middleton in the late 1990s and Operation Trinity from 2012 to 2015 in which investigations were made into alleged sexual and violent abuse against children living in care in children's homes owned by Lambeth Council.
