Summary:

Michael was abducted at gunpoint from his elementary school by Franklin Delano Floyd who has since been taken into police custody. The child's whereabouts are still unknown.

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

On September 12, 1994, when Michael was in the first grade at Indian Meridian Elementary School in Choctaw, Oklahoma, Floyd produced a gun and entered the school to kidnap Michael and the school principal, James Davis. Davis was later found tied to tree in nearby woods but there was no sign of Michael. In November 1994, Floyd was arrested and charged for the federal crime of kidnapping and was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

Additional Details:

This is a very complex case with varying time frames, locations, name changes etc. Franklin Delano Floyd told FBI agents he had killed Michael Hughes (son of Suzanne Marie Sevakis whom he had kidnapped as a young girl after marrying her mother) on the same day that he kidnapped him in September 1994, shooting him twice in the back of the head. Floyd, using the name Clarence Hughes claimed to be Tonya Hughes/Suzanne Sevakis's husband and declared Michael as his son. DNA tests have also ruled that Floyd was not his biological father. Floyd has confessed to killing Michael and burying him near the last interstate exit leaving Oklahoma. Multiple searches have been conducted but have not resulted in finding Michael. On January 23, 2023, Franklin died in prison at the age of seventy-nine.
