Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance:
On Monday, July 10, 1995, Brian Kelvin Andrewin, 16, was playing basketball with friends at a local park in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. After leaving to head home, Brian was never heard from or seen again. Andrewin was last seen playing basketball with some friends in a local park on July 10, 1995 in Chicago, IL.
Additional Details:
From the start, Chicago Police Department believed he had runaway and that likely resulted in this case being mishandled and virtually no type of media coverage until 2003. CPD reported and treated Brian's case as an "endangered runaway", but changed his status to "endangered missing person" in 2003. Neither major Chicago newspapers, The Chicago Tribune or The Chicago Sun-Times ran articles about his disappearance, likely due to CPD believing he ran away. A photo from his 8th grade graduation when he was 14 years-old was used in a Montana newspaper, The Billings Gazette on November 6, 1996. It was the only newspaper that managed to find an ad looking for information on his whereabouts. DNA is available in his case record.
