Cesar Carlos Castaneda is wanted for the capital murder of 86-year-old William Lenox in El Paso, Texas on January 2, 1995. Castaneda and several associates who were caretakers of the victim went to Lenox’s house to rob it; when he discovered them, they allegedly beat him to death with blunt objects. On January 2, 1995, Cesar Carlos Castaneda and several associates who worked as caretakers for William Lenox in El Paso, Texas entered Lenox’s house with the intent to rob it. When Lenox discovered the burglary in progress and came out, the robbers beat him to death with blunt objects. Castaneda and his associates were initially arrested, but in March 1995, after his arrest, Castaneda was released on bail.

On January 2, 1997, a state warrant was issued in El Paso County charging Castaneda with capital murder, burglary of a habitation, and aggravated robbery. In 1998, the state of Texas filed a federal warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. PACER records show the federal warrant was dismissed without prejudice in 2018 since Castaneda was still a fugitive. Law enforcement believed he may have fled to Mexico to hide.
