Summary:

Actor Jack Nance died under mysterious circumstances on December 30, 1996, at the age of 53. The day before his death, Nance reportedly told friends Leo Bulgarini and Catherine Case that he had been involved in a physical altercation outside Winchell’s Donuts in South Pasadena after making a comment to a group of men. The following day, Nance was found dead in his apartment by Bulgarini. His death was ruled a homicide, due to blunt force head trauma. No suspects were ever identified.

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Offense:

There were no witnesses to the altercation that happened at Winchell's Donuts. According to existing reports, Jack's blood alcohol level was 0.24 at the time of his death. Investigators have stated during conversations with Jack's family that Jack could have fallen and hit his head; however, the Coroner ultimately ruled his death a homicide. The last individuals to see Jack alive (excluding the men he supposedly had the altercation with) were Mr. Bulgarini and his girlfriend, Catherine Case. Both individuals, (close friends of Jack's) were questioned extensively by detectives and it was determined there was no reason to believe either had anything to do with his death.

Additional Details:

Many questions remain for the family. The Nance family has not received all of the answers they would like.
