Throughout their marriage, Rogelio was controlling and abusive to Sugie, forbidding her from going out and having friends. They would get into violent fights after Rogelio came home from drinking. Sugie found out that Rogelio was cheating on her as well. Authorities allege that Rogelio beat and stabbed Sugie to death, then dumped her body in a pond. The FBI provided an age enhanced sketch of Rogelio in 2022 and a $10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
