Summary:
Fredy Bustamante is wanted for the homicide of his girlfriend, 36-year old Elana Gonzales
Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Offense:
Elana met Fredy who promised her a better job and higher wages. Elana jumped at the opportunity since she was an undocumented immigrant who wanted a better life for her children who lived in the Philippines. Fredy did not tell her however that he was already married and had a restraining order issued against him by his wife. During their four-year relationship, Fredy would frequently beat Elana. Elana never went to police because of fears of being deported or to a local abused women’s shelter. Freddy’s beatings got worse in the last two months of Elana’s life because she was seeing another man. This culminated in Fredy allegedly strangling Elena to death since Elana was ready to leave Fredy. After the homicide, Fredy is believed to have fled to Guatemala. A federal Unlawful Flight To Avoid Prisecution (UFAP) would be issued for Fredy’s arrest. Despite still being a fugitive, Fredy was officially indicted for the homicide in 2012. As of this posting, New Jersey’s court records database shows no arrest, disposition, closure of the bench warrant or events after the 2012 indictment for Fredy’s murder case. This confirms that his state warrant is still active. The federal UFAP warrant is also still active, according to public PACER records.
Additional Details:
Anyone with information on Fredy’s whereabouts should contact Bergen County Crime Stoppers (to qualify for the potential reward) at 844-466-6789. Fredy should be considered very dangerous. Please consider sharing this so that there can be justice and answers in Elana’s case.
