Hudson, Florida

Summary:

On April 10, 1998, 40-year-old Diane Augat vanished from Hudson, Florida. She had been staying at her sister’s house following a stay at a mental health facility. When her sister returned from a doctor's appointment, Diane had left. Later that day, she was seen at a local tavern, appearing intoxicated.

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

Four days after her disappearance, Diane’s mother discovered a disturbing voicemail left on her answering machine. In the message, Diane pleaded for help before sounds of a physical struggle erupted and the line cut off. The caller ID showed the name "Starlight," but attempts to call back went unanswered. Shortly after the phone call, a passerby discovered the severed tip of a human middle finger along U.S. Route 19. Police confirmed through fingerprints that the severed fingertip belonged to Diane. A few days later, a bag containing her neatly folded clothes was found in an outdoor freezer behind a nearby convenience store. Over two years later, in November 2000, a family member found another bag labeled "Diane" at a local convenience store containing her personal toiletries, including lipstick and perfume.

Additional Details:

Despite extensive police investigations, interviews, and lead follow-ups over the years, no trace of Diane Augat was ever found, and her disappearance remains an unsolved mystery.
