Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance:
Innocente Richmond Yanez was last seen at his residence in the vicinity of the 500 block of May Avenue in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on January 5, 1999. His mother, Virginia Yanez, had left for her night shift at work. When she returned home the following morning, she found the lights and television on, but Innocente was gone. He left behind his coat, cigarettes, and all his personal belongings in the house. Several relatives mentioned that he said a friend planned to give him a ride somewhere that day, but there were no other specifics mentioned about his plans. He was not reported missing until January 15, 1999, ten days after his disappearance.
Additional Details:
Innocente was involved with drugs at the time of his disappearance, but his mother stated that if he owed anyone money, she would have helped him come up with it. His family and children do not believe he would have voluntarily stayed away or abandoned his young son. Law enforcement considers his disappearance to be suspicious and classified him as an endangered missing person. Investigators have conducted property searches and searched rivers and creeks in the area, but nothing has been found. His mother raised his children following his disappearance, caring for his six-year-old son until the child aged out at 18 years old. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) offered a reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for his disappearance. As of recent years, law enforcement and family members continue searching for answers, with Detective Chase Reed of the Tahlequah Police Department expressing hope that someone will come forward with a lead. Forensic evidence is available including dentals, fingerprints, and DNA.
