Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Offense:
On November 28, 1999, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Leonides Bohorquez Torres, then 25 years old, was asked to leave the Quarter Horse Tavern located at 4764 S. Sixth Ave. in Tucson, Arizona after being involved in a fight. He was visibly drunk according to witness statements. Approximately two hours later, Torres returned to the bar carrying a shotgun. He fired several rounds, killing two patrons: Ruth Todd, age 54, and Robert Ramos, age 64. Five additional people were wounded in the shooting.
Additional Details:
A warrant for Torres's arrest was issued two days after the shooting. He has not been seen since the incident. Torres is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault. In November 2000, Torres was featured on the television program America's Most Wanted, which generated several leads according to investigators. However, the case eventually grew cold with no major investigative leads remaining as of 2022. Authorities believe Torres has family in both Tucson and Texas, and suspect he may be traveling between Tucson and Phoenix with the aid of family members. Torres may have also fled to his native country of Mexico. As of this posting, Torres has an active Pima County warrant, according to the AZDPS warrant database.
