Summary:
Randy Whitfield is last known to have been seen on 12/8/2001 around 6:30 pm at his home by an acquaintance. It was almost 3 weeks later before he was reported missing. Randy lived alone and he worked as an escort driver for a transport company. He often travelled and would be on the road for days so his family didn't immediately realize he was missing.

Circumstances of Disappearance:
His dog was left alone without food and water. Randy had cooked dinner and it was sitting on the stove. His home and shop were found unlocked. All of these things were out of the ordinary for Whitfield. His family found that Randy had bought and wrapped Christmas presents for his family and those presents as well as other belongings inside his home were left untouched. Law enforcement believes a break in/robbery is unlikely. Police did arrest and charge a man for stealing a vehicle and car hauler from Randy's property.
Additional Details:
2 days after Randy's disappearance, just 6 miles away, an elderly couple was slain in their home. In this rural, tight-knit community, many believe the 2 cases are related. While Randy and the murdered couple did know each other, it is unknown how well. The murders of Elmer and Joette Thrasher also remain unsolved.
