Maria Reyes was a resident of Garden Grove. On 01/04/2002, Maria was found stabbed to death in a dirt field in Chino Hills. Four Hispanic males driving a 1990’s brown Chevy van were seen in the field near the time of the homicide. (H#2002-001)

Circumstances of Offense:

Jan. 4, 2002 The body of a 21-year-old Garden Grove woman was found lying off the shoulder of the road in the area of Hellman and Pine avenues in Chino, then a county area. Investigators said Maria Pastora Reyes was last seen alive between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. a day earlier. She was leaving the 2300 block of Sixth Street in Santa Ana, possibly walking towards her home in Garden Grove. She was found dead at 6:45 a.m. She was wearing a gray halter top, white pants, black windbreaker jacket and white Fila tennis shoes. She usually carried a small blue purse.
