Circumstances of Offense:
On May 9, 2002, Alfredo Cardenas Jr., a 3-year-old child, was shot to death in front of an apartment building on the 14700 block of Blythe Street in Van Nuys, California. The shooting occurred near his home in the early evening hours. The motive was that Cardenas’s aunt and uncle were arguing. Delasancha and his fellow gang members then attacked Cardenas’s uncle. Delasancha allegedly fired a gunshot which struck and killed Cardenas as he was walking nearby.
Additional Details:
According to Los Angeles Police Department records, Jesus Delasancha was identified as one of five suspects in the murder. Four of the five suspects were arrested during the initial investigation, but Delasancha remained a fugitive as of the time the case was being actively pursued by police. The Los Angeles Police Department's West Valley Homicide division investigated the case. As of this posting, Los Angeles County’s court records database shows no disposition in Delasancha’s case. The only recorded proceedings and update to Delasancha’s custody status are related to a judge issuing a warrant for Delasancha’s arrest. This unfortunately confirms that he is still at large.
