Summary:

Linda Razzell was 41 years old at the time of her disappearance. She lived in Highworth on the outskirts of Swindon and disappeared on her way to work on Tuesday 19th March 2002. Glyn Razzell, her estranged husband, was found guilty of her murder in 2003 and sentenced to life in prison. No body has been found and her remains have never been recovered.

Circumstances of Disappearance:

Mrs Razzell, originally from Carmarthen, left her home in the village of Highworth, near Swindon, at 8.45am on 19 March 2002 with her children and boyfriend Greg Worrall. Linda left home with her children at approximately 8.40am in her red Ford Escort and drove 7 miles into Swindon to work, dropping the children at school and her boyfriend at his work on the way. She parked her car in a residential street, Alvescott Road and set off to walk an approximately 20-minute journey to the nearby college where she was a teaching assistant, but she never arrived and has never been seen again. Her phone was found in a recess of the alleyway the next day during a police search. Her boyfriend contacted police on the evening of her disappearance after she failed to pick up her children from their after-school club.

Linda and Razzell had been in the middle of divorce proceedings at the time of her disappearance and his trial was told he faced a financial settlement he was not prepared to accept. Within days it became apparent that Glyn was the main suspect for Linda's disappearance. Thereafter, the Police appeared to be focused solely on building a case around Glyn, and seemed to have forgotten they were meant to be looking for a missing person. Her car was parked in its usual place in Alvescott Road, Swindon and her mobile phone was found by some garages in an alley nearby. Blood, DNA matched to Linda was eventually discovered in the boot of a car used by Linda's estranged husband Glyn Razzell on the day that Linda disappeared. The car underwent 2 forensic examinations and no traces of blood were found. It was only on the 3rd attempt that blood was discovered. On the 17 May 2002 Glyn Razzell was charged with the murder of Linda Razzell. On the 14 November 2003 Glyn Razzell was convicted of the murder of Linda Razzell. Glyn Razzell has always denied killing her and maintains his innocence. Inside Justice, a documentary team investigating alleged miscarriages of justice, examined Glyn Razzell's conviction in 2018. Her body has never been found and Glyn has always protested his innocence. Led by Louise Shorter, Inside Justice experts in forensic science, policing and law re-examined the case to see if there is any new evidence that could challenge the conviction. There could be a link between Linda and convicted double murderer Christopher Halliwell, who killed two women in the Swindon area. Convicted murderer Glyn Razzell who has never revealed where he hid his wife's body has been granted parole as of April 2026.
