Jean-Marie Jean-Francois is wanted for the homicide of his girlfriend, 37-year-old Fritz-Anna Florestal. This case is being publicized in acknowledgment of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Circumstances of Offense:
Authorities say that Jean-Marie had been abusive towards Fritz-Anna and had even threatened her with a gun. Fritz-Anna had successfully obtained a restraining order against Jean-Marie, which allegedly pushed Jean-Marie over the edge. Authorities say that Jean-Marie waited for Fritz-Anna to wake up which is when he entered her apartment. Jean-Marie then allegedly ambushed and beat Fritz-Anna to death. To make matters even worse, Jean-Marie waited for Fritz-Anna’s older daughter to arrive. Once she did, he allegedly taped her hands, legs and mouth. She was so terrified, she did not move for 20 hours until authorities found her. Jean-Marie left with Fritz-Anna’s younger daughter whom he gave to a pastor. Jean-Marie told the pastor he was going on vacation and called Fritz-Anna’s family, saying he was going to flee to Mexico. Aside from Mexico, authorities say that Jean-Marie has ties to his native country of Haiti and potentially Canada since he is fluent in French. A federal Unlawful Flight To Avoid Prosecution warrant was issued in 2003 which was then dismissed in 2016. The reason was because of the age of the case and that there were no current investigative leads. As of this posting, Jean-Marie has an active homicide warrant in Florida’s official statewide warrants database.
