Circumstances of Disappearance:

On the evening of July 18, 2003, Robert Wayne Connor was last seen sitting at the bar of the Boxcar Grille restaurant, located on North Oxford Street in Claremont, North Carolina. On July 24, 2003, his daughter reported him missing to the Catawba County Sheriff's Office after she was unable to get in touch with him. His daughter stated she found unanswered mail in Connor's mailbox and fourteen messages on his telephone answering machine, his pickup truck was parked in an unusual place, and his cherished Dachshund dog was left behind and hungry. Connor's .357 Magnum handgun, which he normally kept under the couch cushions, was missing. At the time of his disappearance, Robert Connor lived alone on his 20 acre property near U.S. 70 East in Claremont, North Carolina.

Additional Details:

Since that day, law officers have sifted through thousands of tips, interviewed hundreds of people and conducted six searches in Catawba and Iredell counties. Lyle Creek, which was searched back in 2003, along with Connor Park and the area surrounding his home. No clues to his whereabouts were found. In February 2006, authorities interviewed John Franklin Dickson, who is the last person known to have seen Connor before his disappearance. Dickson did not provide any useful information, however, and a March 2006 search of a local pond also turned up nothing. Although no concrete evidence of a crime was found at his home, foul play has not been ruled out in his disappearance.
