Summary:
Luis Uriel Castillo is wanted for the capital murder of 24-year-old Cornelius Ray.
Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Offense:
Cornelius was last heard from saying that he was going to pick up a person he had met in an internet chat room. After Cornelius had not been heard from for several days, his body was discovered in his apartment. He had been beaten, shot in the back of the head and his body had been wrapped in a sheet. The motive appeared to be robbery since Cornelius’s computer, tv and car were missing. Authorities would identify the alleged suspect as Luis Uriel Castillo, a US citizen born in Texas and a capital murder warrant was issued. In 2007, a federal Unlawful Flight To Avoid Prosecution (UFAP) warrant was issued since Luis was believed to have fled to Matamoros, Mexico. As of this posting, Harris County’s court records database shows Luis as not being in custody and that his 2005 capital murder warrant (along with a 2020 murder warrant) are still active. There are no details as to whether the 2020 charge is in relation to Cornelius’s case or another case. The federal UFAP warrant is still active, confirming that Luis is still at large.
Additional Details:
Anyone with information on Luis’s whereabouts should contact Crime Stoppers Of Houston (to be eligible for a potential reward) at 713-222-TIPS (8477). Luis should be considered extremely dangerous. Please consider sharing this so that Cornelius’s family can get justice and answers in their loved one’s case.
