He was traveling down Highway 16 (also known as LA 16) in the Denham Springs area near Eastover Boulevard when Jesus Maltos-Chacon, driving a truck in the opposite direction, swerved into Zieto's lane and struck the motorcycle head-on. Law enforcement distributed multiple wanted fliers and received numerous tips placing him in Louisiana, Texas, and as far north as Minnesota. In November 2025, the Homeland Security Investigations Tip Line received a recent potential tip concerning an illegal immigrant living in Denham Springs, Louisiana, that may have related to Maltos-Chacon. Crime Stoppers offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to his arrest as of 2019. Maltos-Chacon was briefly removed from ICE's Most Wanted List during the Biden Administration but was re-added by the Trump Administration on April 27, 2026. Blake's mother, Judy Zieto, and his father Tony have spent nearly twenty years seeking justice. Blake's family named a grandson after him to honor his memory.
