Missing From:

Tyler, Texas

Summary:

Mark Randall Davis, a Texas A&M University senior, seemed to be in a good mood on the night of January 14, 2007, when he went to the Olive Garden restaurant in Tyler with his family and talked about his plans to return to College Station the next day to resume classes after the holiday break. But that was the last time his parents heard from him. Davis was last seen at his family's home in Tyler, Texas on January 15, 2007, and was a senior at Texas A&M University in College Station at the time of his disappearance, and was home for winter break. His case remains unsolved.

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

On the night of January 14, 2007, the parents of Mark Randall Davis woke to find their son missing. His bike was gone from the family's house in the 1200 block of Luann Lane in Tyler. He left his wallet, cell phone and money, along with a note for his family. Mark Davis left his parents' residence in the 1200 block of Luann Lane in the early morning some time after 3:00 a.m. Davis left behind a goodbye note for his parents. He stated he loved them and his leaving was no one's fault, and indicated they would never see him again. On January 17, 2007, around 8:15 a.m., someone reported seeing Davis riding his bike along County Road 173 in Flint, just four miles from his home. His metallic forest green and silver 26-inch frame, 24-gear 2005 model Expedition Specialized mountain bike disappeared with him.

Additional Details:

During the fall semester of 2006, Davis stopped going to most of his classes. Before he vanished, Davis has become withdrawn and uncertain of his future. Mark was a high school tennis star who loved to go wakeboarding and waterskiing with his family, but he had been withdrawn since he came home for the holidays Dec. 13. Randy and Karen Davis invited their son to go snow skiing over his holiday break, but he said he didn't want to go. His parents were concerned about his mental state and took him to see a therapist a short time before he disappeared, but the therapist believed his problems were not serious and he would get over them. In the search efforts, DPS air aspects and the helicopter were deployed. Police are at a stalemate, having explored all the leads given to them in Tyler and College Station. Authorities are uncertain whether Davis is deceased, or whether he is alive and simply does not want to be found. His family believes he could be in the College Station area and may seek jobs as a Spanish tutor or short-order cook. His parents stated if he did not want to come back to them they could accept that; they only want to know he is alive and safe. His father believes his son could still be alive and might have fled to a Latin American country to escape school-related pressures he'd been facing.
