On Mother's Day, May 13, 2007, Wai Ho Ng (Ray Ng) was working at The Hong Kong City BBQ, (5301 N State Rd 7, Tamarac, FL 33319). The gunman appeared just before closing. He demanded that Ray give him all the money in the cash register. Ray complied and said, 'I've given you everything,' That is followed by a single gunshot. Ray collapsed and died. The gunman was wearing a mask. A witness described the killer as a black male, 5 feet 10 inches, wearing a Rastafarian style hat and red bandana.

On Mother's Day, May 13, 2007, Wai Ho Ng (Ray Ng) gave his mother the day off and worked at their restaurant, The Hong Kong City BBQ, a Chinese restaurant (5301 N State Rd 7, Tamarac, FL 33319). The gunman appeared just before closing. He demanded that Ray give him all the money in the cash register. Ray complied and said, 'I've given you everything,' That is followed by a single gunshot. Ray collapsed and died. The gunman was wearing a mask. A witness described the killer as a black male, 5 feet 10 inches, wearing a Rastafarian style hat and red bandana. The gunman headed towards Treehouse Apartments.
Additional Details:
When the crime occurred, one customer was still eating dinner. At least five employees were inside. Detective commented: "Generally, when a suspect is clad with a mask, it would lead us to believe that he may be known to the patrons of the restaurant or possibly by the employees of the restaurant." Ray's mother emigrated from Hong Kong. His mother lost a daughter to breast cancer. When she died, Ray dropped out of high school to help his mother at the restaurant.
