Summary:
Beverly Theresa Meadows, a 48-year-old white female, disappeared on December 26, 2008, from Community Care Nursing Home in Marshall, Texas. She walked away from the facility in the early evening hours and has not been seen since. Her case remains unsolved and classified as endangered missing.
Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance:
Beverly Meadows was a resident of Community Care Nursing Home located at 207 West Merritt Street in Marshall, Texas, where she had lived for approximately six years. On December 26, 2008, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m., she walked away from the facility. She had removed her door alarm identification bracelet before leaving, which would have alerted staff if she attempted to exit. She left all her personal belongings behind, including her daily medication, which she required for her insulin-dependent diabetes, asthma, and emotional problems. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a navy blue pull-on t-shirt with a Harley-Davidson emblem on the front, blue jeans, and black flip-flops. Her mother, who lived approximately 15 miles from the nursing home, believed Beverly was attempting to walk to her residence.
Additional Details:
Authorities conducted a canine search in the immediate area with no results. The Marshall Police Department offered a $2,500 reward for information leading to Beverly's whereabouts as of February 2009. Investigators have followed leads and reached out to various media sources for help. The department has scoured nearby creeks and abandoned properties in hopes of finding Meadows, but there have been no confirmed leads or sightings. In June 2009, authorities requested an autopsy on an unidentified female body found in a well pit off Bill Coleman Road, but it did not match Beverly's description. DNA samples were collected from Beverly's closest family members and submitted to the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, entered into a nationwide database for comparison with unidentified bodies and skeletal remains. Beverly's mother, Liz Lingenfelter, has continued searching extensively for her daughter for years, calling morgues, hospitals, and jails, distributing posters throughout the area, checking abandoned houses and properties, and contacting vehicle demolition companies. A man initially reported to investigators that he believed he saw Beverly behind a store across the street from hotels near the nursing home shortly after her disappearance, but this witness could not be located for follow-up questioning. Beverly's case was included in the book 'The Last Place You'd Look' by Carole Moore.
