Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

Jon Barrett has been missing from Pocatello since November of 2008. May 12th would be his 76th birthday, perhaps spent visiting his friends around downtown Pocatello, or maybe his family and grandchildren. He never got that chance. Although police have never named him as a person of interest in Barrett’s disappearance, a local man, Randall C. Toone, was a key figure in the investigation after it was found he had used Barrett’s credit card after his disappearance, charging $18 in Bonneville County at a Ross Dress for Less store. Toone was arrested in Las Vegas and fought extradition but eventually returned to Idaho where he entered a plea to felony fraudulent use of a financial card. Toone entered an Alford plea to the charge, not admitting to the specific details of the allegations, but acknowledging prosecutors had enough evidence to obtain a conviction. He has continued to maintain that he had permission to use the card. Randy Toone currently remains a person of interest in the opinions of many citizens throughout Pocatello. What really happened to Jon? How did he really get ahold of Jon's credit card? Hmmm... Happy Birthday Jon. Pocatello and your family misses you. Contact Pocatello Police at 208-234-6121 if you have any information, or Idaho's Cold Case Tip Line at 1-844-TIP-4040.
