Afterwards, Carroll was reported to be living in Springfield, MO at the Glenstone Court Motel under the alias James Buzzard. Carroll fled before law enforcement could apprehend him and is still wanted.

Carroll has previously been imprisoned twice for molesting two other underage relatives. Carroll is described as a people pleaser and highly manipulative. He has work experience in construction (specifically trim work). While living at the Glenstone Court Motel, he worked as a handyman and had some managerial duties at the motel. Carroll also had a long time girlfriend who was living with him at the motel. The last confirmed sighting of Carroll was at a gas station in Springfield, MO in 2017. On 5/8/2024, information was gathered that suggested Carroll may be going to the Wranglers Honky Tonk bar in Branson Missouri on 5/11/2024. On 5/11/2024, U.S. Marshals Task Force members went to the Wranglers Honky Tonk bar in an attempt to locate Carroll. Carroll was identified and arrested. Carroll initially stated that his name was Andrew Johnson. Carroll appears to have been working at the Branson Express Inn and living with a different girlfriend who he had met some time after he fled in 2009.
