Summary:

Alyssa Angelique McLemore, a 21-year-old mother, disappeared on April 9, 2009, remaining unsolved and haunting her family and the Kent, Washington community. She disappeared after placing a 911 call asking for help.

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

McLemore lived with her mother and grandmother in Kent, Washington at the time of her disappearance. Her grandmother spoke to her on the phone at 6:30 p.m. on April 9, 2009. McLemore's mother was dying of scleroderma, an autoimmune disease, and on April 9 her grandmother told McLemore that her mother's condition was worsening. When McLemore got a call on the night of April 9, 2009 that her mother was dying, she told her family she was on her way home. A witness reported seeing Alyssa near 30th Avenue South and Kent-Des Moines Road later that evening, near a green 1990s pickup truck, possibly with Oregon plates. She never arrived home. The next day, on the evening of April 10 at 9:15 p.m., a 10-second phone call was made to 911 from Alyssa's phone. The dispatcher heard a woman frantically asking for help, but the line went dead before she could respond. McLemore's Blackberry phone didn't have GPS, so investigators could never pinpoint exactly where the 911 call originated from or who the male voice on the line belonged to. On April 14, 2009, Alyssa was officially reported missing.

Additional Details:

Three days after she went missing in 2009, her mother died of scleroderma. The phone was out of service a few days after the 911 call and no longer took phone messages. In the last decade, the family has organized searches, distributed flyers, and submitted DNA samples in the eventuality that remains are discovered. In 2019, the Washington State Patrol Missing and Unidentified Persons Unit unveiled a semi-trailer featuring Alyssa's pictures in hopes of increasing exposure to her disappearance. In cooperation with McLemore's family, Lost and Missing in Indian Country, Kent Police detectives and a forensic artist, an age progression sketch was created to better represent what she might look like now. Detectives have aggressively investigated every lead over the years, but her disappearance and whereabouts remain unsolved. Her family believes she may have been a victim of human trafficking.
