Summary:

Larry Richard Baker, known as Jake, was 54 years old when he disappeared from Cleveland, Texas on January 29, 2010. He had dementia and had suffered several strokes before his disappearance. Despite efforts from law enforcement and his family, no trace of him has been found.

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

Baker was last seen standing on the porch of his residence in Cleveland, Texas on the evening of January 29, 2010. He lived near the intersection of Plum Grove Road and CR 325, and his sister, who lives on the same property, saw him when she went to take him some food. He has never been heard from again. Authorities believe he left home between 1:00 and 2:00 a.m. He is supposed to wear eyeglasses, but he didn't have them when he disappeared. Baker had suffered five strokes and had trouble even walking to the mailbox.

Additional Details:

The man was first reported missing Friday morning by his sister. When authorities went to check on him the doors on his house were wide open and he was gone. The search was being coordinated by the Liberty County Sheriff's Office. Firefighters from the Cleveland and Plum Grove area assisted in the search. Dogs from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice were called out to assist in the search. Texas EquuSearch was also notified about the man's disappearance. Texas Equusearch had searched the area for Larry, too, shortly after he went missing in 2010. As of March 2015, the dig was finally done. On March 18, 2015 a search was done with a backhoe for Larry Baker. A guy doing drugs with another guy told Detective Brian Bortz what happened to Larry, and that he was buried on the property where his brother-in-law lived. He also said he knew who the suspect was, Kelly Nickerson. Jerry knew Kelly Nickerson, very well, because he was Jerry's brother-in-law. Jerry had suspected that Larry was killed by Kelly, for a while now. He was close enough to know particular things about Kelly, like the fact that Kelly had melted down a gun and a few other things. Kelly Nickerson, 40, was originally from Towanda, Pennsylvania. He had moved to Cleveland and was there for many years before moving back to Pennsylvania in 2011.
