Summary:

Lester Raymond Jones Jr. disappeared from Starkville, Mississippi on January 11, 2010, while en route to the Jackson, Mississippi area to visit friends. Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

In January of 2010, at 25 years old, he was just months away from his Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering. On January 11, he left a friend's house and stopped by his family's home that morning, saw and spoke to his brother, and then headed on toward Jackson, Mississippi to visit some friends. Jones and his vehicle were seen on surveillance video at a Sprint Mart gas station in Flowood, Mississippi at 10:18 p.m., which was the last known sighting of Jones. He stopped to use the restroom at the Sprint Mart and left his cell phone behind in the restroom. A patron found his cell phone in the restroom and turned it in to the clerk at the gas station. The Sprint Mart is about 20 minutes from his intended destination. He never arrived that evening and has not been seen or heard from since. It wouldn't be until January 20, 2010, when L.J.'s family officially reported him as missing.

Additional Details:

At the time of his disappearance, Jones was a graduate student at Mississippi State University studying biomedical engineering, enrolled in one course for the spring semester, lived with a roommate on Collegeview Street in Starkville, and was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He was a native of Pontotoc. Friends and family members hosted a "Call to Action" rally at the Magnolia Bar Association on February 6, 2010, with a press conference and prayer vigil to raise awareness about his disappearance. The Flowood Police Department and the Starkville Police Department are investigating his disappearance. His case remains unsolved. Both he and his vehicle remain missing at this time.
