Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance:
Jennifer Lynne Andersen was last seen at her apartment near 120th Street and Blondo Street in Omaha, Nebraska at approximately 1:00 a.m. on March 9, 2010. She was experiencing depression at the time, and her parents had come to stay with her to provide support. She left a note for them stating she was going for a drive. She was last seen wearing a charcoal gray jacket with a blue front, a tight-fitting waist-length gray sweater, dark navy blue jean leggings, and brown flat shoes. On March 15, 2010, her maroon 2001 Chevrolet Lumina bearing license plate RJK303 was found locked and abandoned near Rick's Boatyard Cafe in the 300 block of Riverfront Drive, east of the Qwest Center. Her wallet and purse were inside the vehicle, but her keys were missing. Authorities searched the nearby Missouri River but found no clues. Since her disappearance, there has been no activity on her credit cards or bank accounts, and she left her cellular phone behind.
Additional Details:
Jennifer Andersen worked as a registered nurse at Methodist Hospital in Omaha at the time of her disappearance. She grew up in Sutton, Nebraska, a small town two hours from Omaha, and graduated from Sutton High School and Doane College. She has several medical conditions requiring regular medication, which she did not have with her. She had previously suffered episodes of depression and was emotionally distressed at the time of her disappearance. Within two weeks of her disappearance, loved ones and volunteers organized extensive search efforts by foot and all-terrain vehicle along several miles of riverbank. The United States ATV Search and Rescue Team participated in riverbank searches. Although authorities do not suspect foul play was involved in her case, it is uncharacteristic of her to leave without warning, and her family believes she is in danger. Her case remains unsolved as of 2016.
