Summary:

Kortne Stouffer was 21 when she vanished from her apartment in Palmyra, Pennsylvania during the early hours of July 29, 2012. Police were called to Kortne Stouffer's apartment multiple times the night before she disappeared. Foul play is suspected regarding Stouffer's disappearance.

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

On the evening of July 28, 2012, Kortne was hosting a party at her apartment. At around 9:30pm, police showed up after a neighbour contacted them about the presence of alcohol at the gathering. As Brad was on probation at the time for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, he had been barred from consuming alcohol and was taken into custody for violating his probation. Afterward, Kortne and her friends got food, and eventually, one of the friends she had been with that night followed her back to her apartment to make sure she got home safely. They arrived back in Palmyra at around 3 a.m. Upon arrival at the residence, authorities say that Stouffer got into a verbal altercation with her neighbors, Janice Riemenschneider, Rick Sheetz, and Todd Saksek, whom she suspected contacted police about the earlier party. The last known contact with Stouffer was at 3:30 AM, by the Palmyra Police regarding a disturbance. Police were at Kortne's apartment shortly after 4:30 a.m. By that morning, she was missing. Police do think her disappearance is suspicious since her Palmyra apartment was left locked with personal belongings inside including her purse and cell phone. Her dog was also there. A family member also told WHP that her car keys were in her car.

Additional Details:

The Palmyra Borough Police Department and the Lebanon County Detective Bureau worked with federal and state law enforcement agencies, as well as a private investigator hired by the family, to investigate the case. The warrant allowed police to search property belonging to Milton Rodriguez, Jr. and Cody Pruett, who gave Stouffer a ride from Harrisburg back to Palmyra. The District Attorney's office of Lebanon County said the men are not suspects or people of interest in the missing person case. Pruett said he woke up later that morning and Stouffer was gone. A week after the candlelight vigil, the Palmyra Fire Department organized a search, with the aid of community volunteers. Despite combing a 2-mile radius around Kortne's apartment, no evidence was located. Investigators uncovered a voicemail left by Todd on their landlady's phone; sounding very irate, he threatened to take care of the situation himself if the 21-year-old was not removed from the duplex. The family is offering a $100,000 reward for information about her whereabouts. The family told CBS 21 that they will continue to hold the "Come Home Kortne Swatty Float" every year in Kortne's honor. Family, friends and members of the community gathered Saturday afternoon for the annual "Come Home Kortne Swatty Float," an event held each year to keep Stouffer's story in the public eye and continue the search for answers. More than a decade later, no one has been publicly named as a suspect, and no one has been charged in connection with her disappearance.
