Summary:

On December 15th, 2013, preschool teacher and mother Janee Hadan was murdered outside of an Omaha, Nebraska nightclub. She was struck by a stray bullet and killed. To date, no one has been charged with her murder, but in early 2014, police arrested three women on charges stemming from the unauthorized use of Janee's credit cards.

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Offense:

Janee was leaving the Passion Lounge located in the area of 108th and Q Street on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 1:49 a.m. when gunshots were fired. Suzi Hadan said her granddaughter preferred nights spent at home but had gone to the Passion Lounge at 10841 Q St. with two girlfriends Saturday night for a rare night out. Janee Hadan was the first person out of the door as the three were leaving. "Her girlfriends told me that everything was fine and that Janee was just walking ahead when someone in a car started shooting," Suzi Hadan said. "They said Janee started to run, but she ran the wrong way. She was already on the ground when her friends got to her." Police were called to Roxbury Plaza about 1:50 a.m. and found Hadan with life-threatening wounds. Hadan died Sunday at Creighton University Medical Center, a police spokesman said.

Additional Details:

Two others injured in the shooting, Gary M. Lockett, 30, and Brandon D. Patterson, 23, are in fair condition at Creighton, a hospital spokeswoman said. It is still not clear to police if she was the intended target, or if the attack was meant for Gary Lockett, 30, and Brandon Patterson, 23, who were also wounded. Police said 22-year-old Sydni Powe used Hadan's credit card just one hour after she was shot and killed. In early 2014, police arrested three women on charges stemming from the unauthorized use of Janee's credit cards. Twenty-three-year old Dejeniera Rucker, twenty-two-year old Monica Chambers, and twenty-two-year-old Sydni Powe were all taken into police custody last winter. In March, on what would have been Janee's 25th birthday, her friends and family gathered in the playground of the school where she taught, for a balloon release in her honor. Although the case remains cold, Omaha police continue to ask the public for help. They believe that someone at the Passion Lounge Night Club or in the surrounding area saw something that night, and are urging them to come forward.
