On the evening of June 22, 2014, it is believed that a suspect(s) broke into the Thompson Peak Veterinary Clinic off Trinity Way in Janesville, California. It is believed that the suspect removed a grate and broke a window in a possible burglary attempt when Dr. Richard Meinert entered and interrupted the suspect(s). It is believe a struggle ensued and Dr. Meinert was shot in the chest. Theory is the suspect may have been after drugs that were kept onsite. The suspect(s) may have left a black flat brimmed baseball cap with an “Adidas” logo in orange at the scene.
