Circumstances of Recovery:

An unidentified woman's skeletal remains were found in Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park near San Juan Capistrano on January 6, 2014. A February 2024 sheriff's release describes the case as a homicide investigation and estimates that the remains had been exposed for at least six months. She was estimated to be 30-60 years old. Genetic findings suggest primarily Latin American ancestry. She was petite and had wavy, shoulder-length dark-brown hair with lighter highlights. A distinctive gold-colored bridge was present in her lower-left jaw, and investigators noted a possible healed nasal fracture. A dark-blue jacket bore a ball-sport logo and the embroidered name Coach Williams. In 2023, work with Ramapo College and Intermountain Forensics produced a genetic profile suggesting primarily Latin American ancestry. A revised Carl Koppelman rendering was released in February 2024. The Orange County Sheriff's Department, Coroner Division, maintains this identification case under file 14-00097-WI. Anyone with identifying information can contact the Coroner Division at 714-647-7400 and quote that file number.

Additional Details:

The older coroner detail page lists an undetermined death classification and unknown ancestry. The February 29, 2024 sheriff release supplies the newer investigation and genetic findings used in this entry.
