Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Offense:
On the evening of June 3, 2015, William Connole left his home for a walk near his residence. At approximately 10:45 p.m., while standing at the intersection of East 1st Street and North St. Louis Avenue in downtown Loveland, Connole was shot and killed. Approximately 15 minutes earlier, shots had been fired at a motorcyclist near the intersection of Denver Drive and East 18th Street in Loveland, though the rider was not injured. Both incidents occurred on the same evening. Connole had survived cancer and frequently took evening walks through his neighborhood to exercise and think.
Additional Details:
The Northern Colorado Shooting Task Force was formed to investigate multiple shootings in the area during spring 2015, including incidents involving Cori Romero (shot on Interstate 25 on April 22, 2015) and cyclist John Jacoby (found dead on May 18, 2015 in Windsor). Connole's shooting and the motorcyclist shooting on June 3 were linked by forensic evidence but were not connected to the other April and May incidents. Christopher David Parker, age 35 at the time of arrest, was arrested on March 13, 2018, after a nearly three-year investigation. The task force pursued over 5,100 leads, conducted over 1,000 interviews, examined over 14,000 pickup trucks similar to the suspect vehicle, and processed over 340,000 phone numbers. Parker was initially charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. In 2017, prior to his arrest, Guaranty Bank and Trust Company obtained a restraining order against Parker after learning from law enforcement that he had "an arsenal of weapons" in his home and had been placed on a 72-hour mental health hold. Parker pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in June 2023, with the first-degree murder charge dismissed as part of the plea agreement. Judge Susan Blanco sentenced him to 39 years in prison on June 26, 2023. Connole is remembered as a devoted grandfather and family man who made a positive impact on his community.
